I watched Troy today. If you like Hollywood style epic movies or if you are a Brad Pitt fan, then I recommend it. However, if you are a Homer fan, you will be disappointed cos all the Greek gods and goddesses who had a crucial role in “The Iliad” are not featured at all. I’m also disappointed at the miscast for Helen. Diane Kruger is lovely, but is not the perfect one for this role. Eric Bana and Peter O’Toole played really well and they are the souls of this somewhat hollow, waxy movie. Brad Pitt is, well, Brad Pitt in old Greek costume, if you see what I mean. Perhaps we should pay more attention to Orlando Bloom, the rising star and one of the hottest bachelors and sexiest men now.

Came back from Bangkok last night. It was really fun, lots of shopping, some spa, good food… Took lots and lots of photos, will try to upload some of them soon. Most of the souvenirs I bought have been “confiscated” by my mom…
It’s probably the last overseas trip that I took with Hilda before she departs for US. It will be some time before the few of us will get together like this again. Maybe the next time we travel together will be visiting Hilda for her graduation or wedding??
My friend Wan has started a book review blog and her first entry is Endo Shusaku’s “Silence” (遠滕周作 - 沈默). This is by far the most enlightening book on religion that I’ve ever read and I strongly recommend this to my friends, esp. those who are Catholic/Christian. I read the english version many years ago and Wan read the chinese one. I am not sure which version is better, just choose whichever one you like. I have read several other Shusaku’s work and my favourite one is “Deep River” (深河), which is very thought-provoking as well.
I told Wan that I want to do this book review thing and now she is one step ahead of me!! I think I need to catch up!
I like this very much!

I changed the template today. I hope this will solve the technical problems I had with the previous template. I must say I like the old one better, but I guess we just have to cope with these imperfections in life!
I have board/committee meetings once every two weeks since mid-May and I am constantly working on minutes. It’s so tiring. And there are 3 more meetings coming up. I look forward to August for the summer break!
Something’s wrong with my blogger template. Things just disappeared when I republish it every time. I think I’d better switch to another template, which may take me some time to fix everything all over again… it’s really irritating…
I lost the ring which I have worn for many many years. Two days ago I looked at it and I got a hunch that it would disappear. Now it’s gone and I didn’t know when and how it got lost. My 6th sense seems to be working really well lately, especially for unfortunate things!

I finished reading this book yesterday (the picture is the Japanese original but I read the chinese translated version). I rarely read romantic fictions but this one is recommended by (and borrowed from) Julie. It’s about the love stories of two modern women, their attitude towards relationships, marriage and work etc, which are totally un-conventional. The success of this book is that it provokes you in some way to think about your own attitude towards love and relationships.I like the title of this book. It gives you a lot of room for imagination. Do you have any 擦身而過的戀人?
